Important Note: You DO NOT need to know Greek to travel to Greece. English is widely spoken throughout the country. However, it will be helpful to you to know common and courteous phrases, along with basic alphabet knowledge.

So many English words come from the Greek language, so you’ll find that Greek words aren’t all that different once you start sounding them out.
